Life as a freelance musician laid bare…

About

Kate started playing trumpet at the age of 9.  As a teenager she was both a student at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

Having graduated from Exeter University in 2003 with a Business Management degree, Kate has recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a Postgraduate Performance Diploma.

Over the years, Kate has played with a variety of ensembles, from small brass ensembles to symphony orchestras, pit orchestras for musicals and operas, jazz orchestras, pop/function bands, a jazz/blues septet and an originals rock band.  This active performance career has seen Kate play at the UK’s most prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, and on-stage at the National Theatre, and abroad in France, Ireland and Thailand.

Kate also teaches brass instruments and music theory, and holds the LRAM teaching diploma.
